Performance
The behind-the-wheel capabilities of the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas are identical to those of the 2022 Atlas. Some of the trim levels for these model years come with a 235-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. The other trim levels receive 276 horsepower from a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Depending on the trim selected, your Atlas will have either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Higher trim levels add a towing package for enhanced functionality.
Appearance
The exterior design of the Atlas is also unchanged between the 2022 and 2023 versions. This is a large vehicle with a stunning façade. It is defined by horizontal accents running across the grille and connected with the LED-enhanced headlamps. The sides have squared-off wheel wells, and a chrome-accented air vent sits near the front fender. The bumpers and lower side panels show off a mix of chrome accents and black molding. Exterior features include heated and power-folding mirrors, up to 21-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, a sunroof, adaptive headlights, and more.
Features
You will also not find any differences in features between the 2022 and 2023 Atlas SUVs. The lower trim levels give you proximity keyless entry, simulated leather upholstery, a 6.5-inch touch display screen, a wireless hot spot, heated front seats, rear window sunshades, smart device integration, and a digital instrument cluster. Higher Atlas trims add ambient interior lighting, a Fender audio system, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a navigation system, and more. Safety equipment in select or all Atlas trims for both years include blind-spot intervention, a lane-keeping system, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a rear cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, and other gear.
