Has the time arrived for you to purchase the new Volkswagen Atlas crossover that you have had your eye on? The 2021 Atlas is loaded with beautiful updates that you will love, but a few mid-year updates are planned as well. Before you decide when to buy the Atlas, get to know more about the differences between the 2021 and 2021.5 versions.

Performance

While Volkswagen has updated the performance equipment for the 2021 Atlas, no mid-year updates under the hood are planned. Going into the 2021 model year, the Atlas introduces all-wheel drive option at all trim levels for the first time. It also now offers the four-cylinder turbocharged engine as an option in the top trims. Specifically, the powertrains available in the Atlas for 2021 and 2021.5 are a 235-horsepower, four-cylinder, 2.0-liter option and a 3.6-liter, V6, 376-horsepower alternative.

Appearance

The design updates that you can appreciate across the new Atlas interior and exterior were introduced at the beginning of the 2021 model year. The front and rear fascia have been restyled to emphasize the linear design of the Atlas. The primary accent lines that run horizontally through the front and rear ends are tied together by a thin personality line that flows solidly over the wheel fenders and across the side doors. The interior design is also modernized and has several new material options for you to explore.

Features

The mid-year improvements that Volkswagen introduced to the Atlas are found in the standard features. In 2021 and 2021.5, the Atlas has equipment like a digital cockpit, a navigation system, smart device connectivity, wireless device charging, keyless access, LED ambient lighting, a panoramic powered sunroof, a three-zone climate control system, folding seats at the rear, and V-Tex leatherette material. In the middle of the 2021 model year, Volkswagen adds Emergency Assist, the MIB3 infotainment system, and Travel Assist.
