When you purchase a new automobile, it's a serious investment, which is why it is helpful to understand what each vehicle that you have in mind has to offer. If you are interested in the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta and the Honda Civic, you should read our comparison of the two vehicles below to see how they stack up against one another.

The Jetta and Civic both offer numerous safety features. However, the Jetta seems to offer more advanced safety technology when compared to the Honda Civic. Both vehicles offer safety features that include side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, daytime running lights, front wheel drive, optional crash mitigating brakes, blind spot monitoring, traction control, and traction control. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta offers a standard post collision braking system that automatically activates the brakes during a collision to prevent secondary accidents and injuries, but this features isn't offered with the Honda Civic. In addition, the Jetta comes with an available cross-path warning system that helps drivers avoid collisions with the use of a wide-angle radar that is housed in the rear bumper. A cross-path alert system isn't available with the Honda Civic.

A 1.4 turbo 4 cylinder engine is housed in the 2019 Jetta. The engine can produce 147 horsepower with 184 pounds-per-feet of torque. This engine can produce 46 more pounds-per-feet of torque than the Civic's 2.0 DOHC 4 cylinder engine. The Civic does come with an optional 1.5 turbo 4 cylinder engine, but the 1.4 turbo 4 cylinder engine of the Jetta is still more powerful and can produce 22 pounds-per-feet more torque than the Honda Civic's engine. The standard engine that comes with the Jetta is more powerful than both engine options that are offered with the Honda Civic. Both vehicles offer a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

The Jetta offers a better warranty than the Honda Civic. The Volkswagen Jetta is paired with a full 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty that provides you with coverage for the entire vehicle. With the Civic, there is only a 3-year/36,000 basic warranty.

Although both vehicles are suitable and provide drivers with numerous features, the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is the superior vehicle. If you want to test drive the Jetta to see what it has to offer, we welcome you to visit our dealership. Our friendly team is always ready to provide you with excellent customer service.
